Mercadão was the first on-demand marketplace in Portugal, introducing 2-hour deliveries from a variety of retailers.
Provide an overall performance upgrade to their service, integrate a new payments journey and improve the website response. To put it into perspective, as the pandemic evolved, Mercadão, like other online retailers, was the first option to acquire essential goods for most people.
In less than a year working on the project, Glazed confidently can state that the operation execution time has been improved significantly as well as database accesses and CPU usage. All those changes have translated in a smoother user experience, an increase of MAU's and since January 2020 there was a daily delivery increase of more than 20x.
• Integrated the payments journey with SIBS, Portugal's most complete mobile payments service, allowing customers to choose their preferred payment method. • Introduced Click & Collect functionality, allowing customers to shop online and pick up their orders at a designated store. • Developed an API for third-party integration for partner brands, to take advantage of Mercadão's logistics to enable same-day deliveries. • Improved the service delivery update, by implementing a recovery-mode system and monitoring tools.
